Medical Trend/Health Econ Analyst III Remote

The Healthcare Economics and Medical Trend Analyst III will support Baylor Scott & White’s (BSW) value-based contracts which include Medicare, MA, Commercial, Exchange, and Medicaid blocks of blocks of business. Partnering with their Director to research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare cost data, providing management with meaningful statistical findings and conclusions, and identifying potential areas for medical and pharmacy cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. This unique role offers a blend of support for internal teams such as Actuarial and Finance, as well as customer-facing teams such as Sales and Account Management.

The Analyst III will design and develop data queries, analyze reports to measure utilization, cost, and descriptive statistics, network performance, and assist in development of leadership presentations. This position will work with large data sets in BSW's cloud platform and manage analytics projects from conceptualization to completion.



  • May serve in a lead consultant role for all customer contacts.
  • Assess, produce and/or develop complex relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, dashboards, interactive reporting, charts, graphs, and tables) from various data sources by querying data and generating the associated output.
  • Distribute and disseminate analytical deliverables to applicable agencies, researchers, management, and other customers in plan business language for executive and clinical staff stakeholders.
  • Lead validation of output and metrics to ensure data quality, reliability and integrity.
  • Develop statistical, economic, and financial analysis from data to evaluate performance and drive relevant business or clinical initiatives. Analyze data for trends, observations, improvements and make recommendations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and thought leader, brining innovative ideas and solutions to business problems.
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior colleagues.
  • Poses strong verbal and written communication skills.


The ideal candidate will have experience at a health insurance, vendor, or consulting organization performing the stated functions of the role. Specific experience in Pharmacy analytics and Utilization Management/Case Management also a benefit.

QUALIFICATIONS




  • EDUCATION - Bachelors or Equivalent Exp



  • EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 5 years experience required





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS




  • SQL & Experience with SQL based reporting tools



  • Healthcare data experience
