This position is full time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 3:30pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. Weeks of training Duration dependent on need of candidate. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate and supervise daily/weekly/monthly activities of a 15-person team including setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion and performance goals are met.
  • Coordinate work activities with other supervisors, managers, departments, etc.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems using defined processes, expertise and judgment.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and annual performance reviews as well as formal corrective action.
  • Communicate with appropriate parties regarding appeals and grievance issues, implications, and decisions.
  • Analyze and identify trends for all appeals and grievances.


This is a challenging role with serious impact. You'll need to focus on bringing out the best in team members through coaching, huddles and modeling proper behaviors and practices. You'll be accountable for overall team performance within a demanding, fast paced environment that involves a great deal of complexity.

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent years of work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a claim, appeals or grievance's role within GEHA.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and solving problems in an office, claims or customer service environment.
  • Experience with GEHA members
  • Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Ability to work full time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 3:30pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Reside within Kansas City, MO


Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.


Soft Skills:



  • Ability to multi-task including the ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product.


California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington, or Rhode Island Residents Only: The annual range for California / Colorado / Connecticut / Hawaii / Nevada / New York / New Jersey / Washington / Rhode Island residents is $48,300 - $94,500 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
