Human Resources Business Partner

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will be supporting all phases of the Associate life cycle to ensure the best associate experience. We are looking for someone who will take the initiative to understand our industry and operations so that they can develop and recommend solutions as it pertains to employee relations, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Our HR Business Partners provide guidance, advice, and recommendations to not only our associates but our leaders on a range of topics and options. This role requires someone who will maintain the highest level of customer service while balancing the associate needs in a fast paced, growing company while also acting as a catalyst for change, ensuring that consideration is made for downstream implications of a decision as it relates to employment law, policies, and/or culture.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Meet departmental goals and objectives that effectively align with the business/strategic plans.
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decision, and results of department in relations to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Work closely with management and associates to develop working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention, and drive sustainable culture initiatives.
  • Collaborate and develop a trusted partnership with management on Human Resources related issues.
  • Provide management guidance on coaching, counseling, career development/plans, performance improvement plans, corrective action, and terminations.
  • Leverage employee relations knowledge to ensure HR services are compliant with laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Protect interests of associates and the company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations by preparing comprehensive reports, formulating recommendations for remedial action if necessary, and maintaining all documentation associated with the investigation.
  • Onboard associates from start to finish while creating a positive first experience with the company.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and training as needed.
  • Conduct timely and effective exit interviews for use in positive organizational change.
  • Maintain and process all Unemployment Notices and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other HR team members and leverage their expertise in delivering and implementing functional initiatives.
  • Communicate, facilitate, and champion HR programs and company-wide initiatives such as associate engagement and recognition. Provide support for activities relating to associate benefits including but not limited to open enrollment, associate recognition, and Wellness.
  • Assist with associate event planning.
  • Serve as back up to all HR functions as needed.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, including the application of a thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations.



ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:



  • Up to 40% travel required to support remote sites and attend business meetings as needed.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the business. Occasional availability in early mornings and evenings to accommodate a 3-shift operation may be required.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification desirable.
  • HRIS and UltiPro experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EEO, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA and other federal, state and local employment related law.
  • Experience in a field-based role and servicing multi-sites is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to successfully complete multiple tasks in required time frames.
  • A collaborative, confident and assertive style with the ability to proactively build strong trusting relationships and employ influencing strategies to gain support and achieve results and common goals.
  • Excellent consulting and conflict management skills. Ability to prepare for and participate in difficult conversations. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Exceptional follow-through and attention to detail. Timely and accurate execution of administrative HR responsibilities and compliance activities.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment, re-prioritize based on business demands coupled with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Is self-directed and motivated. Take initiative to identify and anticipate needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience with HR program design and implementation.
