SUMMARY:

The Sr. Import/Export Logistics Specialist will be responsible for all international freight shipments and will act as the liaison with all parties to ensure a smooth and complete transaction. This will include but not be limited to the planning and execution of SNF's logistics processes to dispatch, track, and manage shipment bookings, maintenance of records and costs, keeping a repository of accurate documentation, identification of risks and opportunities, and interacting with freight agents. This person will demonstrate a high level of critical thought and showcase an ability to complete a varying degree of tasks with a high turn rate. The role will report directly to the Import/Export Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assists with the development and implementation of import/export policies and procedures (for example, vessel bookings, drayage dispatch, maintenance of cost records, sending ISF and commercial documents to broker, providing inbound nomination of carriers)
  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to ensure material availability and avoid demurrage.
  • correct equipment is utilized and made available to the plant, troubleshoot, and promptly resolve issues that arise with bookings and/or with carrier to avoid mishandled shipments and set standards for future orders.
  • Coordinate directly with suppliers and freight agents domestically and internationally to track shipments to ensure delivery of goods to appropriate destination in a precise and timely manner.
  • Expedite critically needed shipments.
  • Work with brokers, freight forwarders, NVO, and other freight agents to execute vessel bookings.
  • Create shipment tenders and documents using SNF's ERP system and dispatch according to current routing guides and ensure all data is entered correctly and accurately.
  • Timely processing of import air and ocean documents and submission to customs broker(s) for filing.
  • Audit invoices for completeness, contract pricing corroboration, and/or verification of storage and demurrage charges. Works with AP on any discrepancies and delayed payments.
  • Identifies risks/opportunities to ensure cost-effective, safe, and efficient transportation of the company's products.
  • Assist in carrier rate management by updating new rate schedules in rate management software, requesting quotes for new shipping lanes, and managing contract repositories.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Provides support during contract review, negotiations, and RFPs - research, data collection, and manipulation.
  • Develops and manages successful relationships with external freight agents, business partners, and co-workers.
  • Perform prompt and accurate data entry into various internal ERP systems.
  • Provide backup to other Logistics coordinators and Import/Export Manager as required.
  • Proactive participation and execution of RFPs with carriers, external freight agents, brokers, and business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Logistics or another Business-related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in logistics, trucking, and ocean freight required.
  • Knowledge and experience in international logistics with US customs experience preferred.
  • General Computer Proficiency is required, as well as experience in ERP and MS Office software applications, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Work well under pressure in a team environment or individually.
  • Ability to think critically through the multiple-step processes and follow details.
