Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Communication Faculty/OYO ( One-Year-Only) to instruct for the Division of Communication and Cultural Studies.This position will instruct students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in various Communication courses using a variety of modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, and online teaching utilizing best practices in instruction and assessment. Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications 1. A Master's Degree or higher in one of the following fields: Communication, Speech, Speech Communication, Communication Studies, Interpersonal Communication, Mass Communication, Communication Education, Public Address, Applied Communication, Health Communication, International Communication, Intercultural Communication, Organizational Communication, Political Communication, Performance Studies, Rhetorical Criticism, or Communication Theory) OR 2. A Master's Degree in any field with 18 graduate-level credits in these prefixes/subjects: COM, COMM, CST, SP, SPCH, SPH, SPC, RHE, RHT, BUC, CMST, SPE, MCO OR 3. A Master's Degree in any field with 18 graduate-level credits in courses with these keywords: Human Communication, Communication Studies, Speech, Speech Communication, Oral Communication, Rhetoric, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural, Organizational Communication, Health Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Pronunciation, Phonetics, Oral Interpretation, Storytelling, Communication Education, Small Group COmmunication, Listening, Public Address, Political Communication, Rhetoric Criticism, Counseling Communication, Theraputic Communication, Verbal Communication, Communication Theory, Mass Communication, Performance Studies, Strategic Communication Desired Qualifications
2. Experience using assessment strategies at the institutional and classroom levels to enhance student learning and improve instruction. 3. Experience using innovative teaching techniques in the classroom and able to provide examples of how these techniques impact student success. 4. Experience using online technology, updating and creating Communication course shells in Canvas or LMS (Learning Management Systems). 5. Experience engaging students in the field of Communication at an educational institution, local community, and in the workplace. 6. Experience working with peers in a collaborative environment to support student engagement in the field of Communication. 7. Demonstrated commitment to facilitate the success of individuals of diverse abilities and backgrounds, particularly those from under-represented populations.
