Assistant Director Admissions

The Assistant Director provides a high level of personalized service to prospective students who wish to enroll at Creighton University through graduate or adult programs within the College of Nursing. This position is responsible for building the relationships necessary to recruit, admit and enroll new students, assisting the future student up to the point they are ready for enrollment in courses. The effective tracking and reporting of student communication is also the responsibility of this position. Additionally, this position is responsible for representing Creighton University at external events, such as employer education fairs, college recruitment events, and other events as requested.

The Assistant Director will regularly communicate with other members of the recruitment staff, faculty, program directors, and other members of the university community on various topics related to recruitment, admission, and financial aid in order to maximize enrollment opportunities. Working closely with students, this person will regularly review transcripts, complete unofficial prerequisites evaluations, assist in identifying courses for prerequisite completion, and communicate course expectations to prospective students. This position will also be responsible for reviewing admission files and issuing admission decisions, following the guidelines set forth by the schools and colleges.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provides a level of personalized service to prospective students and applicants through in-person, email, and phone communication. This involves regular and proactive follow-up with prospective students
  • Communicates regularly with members of the recruitment staff, program directors, faculty, and other members of the Creighton community.
  • Meet with prospective students, both on-campus and online, interested in programs at Creighton to support their discernment of program choice and their application process.
  • Represents Creighton University at internal and external events.
  • Learns, reviews and retains knowledge regarding Creighton University, its mission, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Review applicant credentials.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Willingness to travel/drive and work on weekends and nights as needed
  • Ability of communicate well with prospective students over the phone, via email, and in person
  • Ability to present pertinent information about Creighton University College of Nursing programs to both large and small groups
  • Knowledge of admission terminology, policies and tests
  • Knowledge of transfer credit policies and procedures
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively review transcripts and complete unofficial transcript evaluations
  • Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate self-direction and motivation
  • Collaborative, team oriented and mission driven



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, required; Master's Degree, preferred
  • At least one year's experience in admissions, recruitment, advising or counseling
