Department Overview

The Gas Safety Excellence (GSE) program was established in 2011 with a goal to develop and implement an asset management system. Over the last decade, GSE has evolved into an integrated safety management system supported by the three pillars of Asset Management, Safety Culture, and Process Safety. In the process, the GSE team led the initiative for PG&E Gas to be the first utility to integrate and be certified to the requirements of the following industry standards into one safety management system: ISO 55001 (Asset Management), API RP 1173 (Safety Culture) and RC14001/API RP 754 (Process Safety).

The role of the GSE team is to provide program oversight of the Gas safety management system and to assure it remains certified to international standards by independent third-party auditors. Additionally, GSE provides ongoing support for Gas Safety culture and occupational health and safety programs and initiatives.

Position Summary

Utilizing project management tools and methodologies, leads the development and implementation of complex initiatives and non-technical business projects or administrative projects from inception to closeout, managing the scope, schedule and cost. There are typically no direct reports; rather people and other resources are indirectly managed as part of a project team.

The Business Project Manager, Principal provides office and field support for the Gas Safety Excellence department including reporting and data acquisition support, organizational change management, project management communications, training, updating of standards and procedures, compliance monitoring, project quality assurance, data quality assurance, audit coordination, continuous improvement and support of other evolving processes. Travel may be required up to 25% for this position.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $136,000

Bay Area Maximum: $232,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and objectives

  • Establish project team with agreed upon roles and responsibilities

  • Obtain commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resources, contingency and communication plans

  • Obtain management approval as needed

  • Ensure project documentation is maintained

  • Identify, analyze, and address project performance issues

  • Manage the integration of vendor tasks and track and review vendor deliverables

  • Communicate project status to all stakeholders

  • Assess project risk and develop contingency plans, identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience required

  • PMP certification required

  • 10 years related experience

Desired:

  • Gas Operations experience

  • Incumbents work in an office environment

  • Expert knowledge of projects and requirements from relevant PG&E functional area

  • Utility experience and knowledge of industry certifications

  • Gas Operations field knowledge and/or experience

  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to influence to effectively gain buy-in from leaders inside and outside of the department

  • Able to present complex data and technical information in a simple and easy-to-understand manner

  • Ability to effectively work with people of all levels, from executives and managers to field-based personnel

  • Creative problem solving skills to develop solutions

  • Able to build working relationships across the organization

  • Adaptable, flexible and able to deal with the ambiguity
