Department Overview

The Planning and Preparedness team within the Emergency Preparedness and Response organization prepares and maintains various emergency response plans, procedures, and other guidance documents critical to PG&E's ability to plan for, prevent, mitigate, respond to, and recover from various emergencies and crises impacting PG&E's service delivery. The team operates within Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) under the Wildfire and Emergency Response organization.

Position Summary

The Emergency Management Specialist participates in designing, developing, and maintaining emergency preparedness plans, processes, standards, and programs. These include emergency response plans specific to major functions within the Company and hazard-specific response plans.

Incumbents manage the tools used to support key operational programs to effectively support emergency response efforts across the organization. Responsibilities also include coordination of preparedness activities with internal and external partners to support an effective readiness posture to identified hazards and ensuring assigned employee groups perform effectively in emergency situations and operate the transmission or distribution grid in a reliable manner.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

CA Minimum: $97,000
CA Maximum: $154,000

Bay Minimum: $102,000
Bay Maximum: $162,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews and updates emergency plan template formats and content; trains team-mates and clients in use of emergency plan templates.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of disaster recovery planning and recovery strategies.
  • Leads project teams to plan, schedule and conduct a wide range of complex emergency preparedness drills and oversees the scenario development portion of exercises.
  • Participates in company exercise design and execution.
  • Leads on-call rotation to support activation and operation of the emergency operations center.
  • Prepares templates and corporate security Plans.
  • Delivers training to support all programmatic areas and be qualified and prepared to deliver Incident Command System (ICS) training if required.
  • Represents the company in contacts with other utilities, various industry boards, committees, regulatory agencies, governmental bodies, and other private organizations.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related experience, 5 years

Desired:

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training
  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification
  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification
  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar
