Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University's residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. We are located in Pittsford, N.Y., seven miles outside of the city of Rochester. The campus is situated on 164 park-like acres-a beautiful setting for a warm, friendly campus community.

The School of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the Schools at Fisher, offering degrees in over 20 undergraduate disciplines. The School is home to over 1,000 undergraduate students majoring in the humanities, natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. In addition, the School is primarily responsible for the , the program of liberal arts courses that all undergraduates take as central to their academic experience. In addition to attending graduate school in any number of disciplines, graduates of the School of Arts and Sciences pursue careers in such fields as marketing, medicine, law, broadcasting, sales, human resource management, advertising and public relations, social work, media relations, information analysis, and scientific research and analysis.

Job Responsibilities
Successful candidates must be able to teach a wide range of courses in public relations (e.g., Introduction to Public Relations, Social Media Management, PR Writing, Media Relations, PR Research and Strategy) as well as courses within the liberal arts core related to public relations and media studies (e.g., a course in PR ethics). These core classes may be selected from existing courses or designed around the successful candidate's interests.

Courses in media buying, advertising, analytics, and media studies are also possible and candidates should note an interest in their cover letter.

The successful candidate will also be advising our award winning student-run PR and advertising agency, PRIMA, and our chapter of PRSSA.

The normal teaching load is 4 courses each in the fall and spring semesters. No summer teaching is required.
Education / Experience
MA/MS/ MBA/ MPS in a relevant field required. Doctorate degree preferred.
Competencies / Skills
* Ability to design and teach a wide range of public relations courses at the undergraduate level.
* Prior teaching experience and familiarity with a wide range of pedagogical techniques.
* Practical experience in the public relations field.
* Passion for mentoring and advising students to enter the public relations profession.
* Commitment to contributing to a climate of equity and inclusion.
