  • Position Summary



    • The Special Care Physician Asst/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) also known as Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides patient care services under the supervision of the Special Care Unit attending physician. This involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with a variety of complex conditions in the hospital setting. The SCU APP is expected to comply with all pertinent treatment policies, evidence-based care bundles, and clinical order sets, as well as all applicable hospital-wide policies and procedures.




  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



    • Education: Successful completion of an approved Physician Asst/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's Degree level of education is preferred.


    • License/Certifications: Current license issued by the State of Maine as a Physician Asst/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with SMHC supervising physician required. Current certification as a PA/ACNP required. BLS certification is required.


    • Experience: Three or more years of experience as an APP in a hospital setting is required.


    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.


    • Unit specific criteria desired based on specialty. See unit specific statement of clinical competency.

This position is 75% nights.
