OPERATIONS & FINANCE MANAGER JOB POSTING

JOB SUMMARY

La Cocina’s Operations & Finance Manager is responsible for the strategic management of the agency’s fiscal and operations functions. La Cocina is currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional with career expertise in fiscal management, Human Resources management, nonprofit administration management and governance, and IT/operations and systems management. The Operations & Finance Manager contributes to La Cocina’s overall mission by supporting leadership standards that generate seamless fiscal, operational, administrative and human resource management systems, procedures, and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with La Cocina’s Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ensuring transparency, accuracy and best practices are observed in all financial documentation, IRS filings, annual audits, and reporting processes.
  • Oversee La Cocina’s budgeting processes.
  • Manage La Cocina’s contracts.
  • Manage employee payroll processes.
  • Oversee the functional aspects of La Cocina’s hiring and retention processes.
  • Oversee HR functions and compliance processes, including maintaining and disseminating La Cocina’s policies, procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Provide records management oversight and ensure records are maintained safely and in ways that provide support for key operational functions, including managing a regulated clinical filing system.
  • Innovate operations, HR and IT processes by recommending excellent technologies and ways to create sustainability for La Cocina.
  • Train and orient staff on personnel policies and procedures, and manualize these in ways that support compliance, transparency, oversight and excellent employee communications.
  • Oversee management and maintenance of all office systems and facilities.
  • Design and implement supportive and highly efficient IT innovations that streamline productivity. This includes overseeing the work of La Cocina’s IT consultant.
  • Provide supervision and support to La Cocina’s Office Manager.
  • Generally, oversee all administrative tasks and personnel in ways that support La Cocina’s growth and sustainability.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • At least five years’ proven experience managing and innovating financial systems, processes and reporting that advance sustainability and financial reach.
  • Three years or more managing Human Resources systems, including a proven approach to growing staff capacities and employee retention practices.
  • Highly experienced at managing vendors, consultants and generally negotiating externally-facing contracts.
  • A proven record of managing information technology (IT) systems, including with support from external contractors.
  • Able to think strategically, set priorities and multitask while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and to contribute meaningfully to building management capacity both in the Operations team and in the agency more broadly.
  • Personal qualities of transparency, integrity, credibility, and dedication.
  • Ability to thrive as part of a multilingual and multicultural team with diverse life and work-related experiences, expertise, skills and objectives.
  • Strong support for Latinx social justice, and/or experienced with operations that support Latinx health equity community work.
  • Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative, strategic planning processes preferred.
  • Experience with implementation of productivity measures, assessment and oversight of evaluation data systems a plus.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in a relevant field, or professional experience equivalency.
  • At least five years proven professional experience. Non-profit management experience a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & HOURS

This position is based out of La Cocina’s Fort Collins office and requires travel between our Fort Collins and Denver offices to ensure operations are running optimally in both locations. The position supports working from home one-day per week, but is otherwise in-person.

This is a full-time (40-hours per week) position that requires some availability evenings and weekends in order to support La Cocina’s diverse clients’ needs. La Cocina offers Flex Time as a benefit to all full-time employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT USED

Ability to operate all general office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, and phones. Ability to operate and drive vehicles for work related travel, meetings, and to run errands.

CLASSIFICATION & PAY

This position is approved for $80,000 to $95,000 annual salary depending on qualifications and organizational alignment.

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for benefits. La Cocina’s benefits include health insurance, 401K retirement plan, flex-time, PTO and agency closures both in summer and winter. This position may qualify for a relocation stipend.
