Lecturer in World Languages (Japanese): Fall 2024 Semester

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts anticipates hiring full and part time lecturer(s) to teach courses in Japanese for Fall 2024 semester. Courses being offered may include but not limited to:

Elementary Japanese I

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion and lab sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Advanced degree in Japanese Language or Literature and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching.
