Department Information
The School of Psychology is dedicated to advancing psychological science through cutting-edge research, innovative education, and impactful community engagement. Our faculty and student researchers strive to promote a scientific understanding of the human brain, cognition, mind, environment, and behavior. We are committed to translating our knowledge of the organization of the brain and behavior to improve workforce development, the human condition and well-being, inspire future technologies, and improve the world.

The Language, Intelligence, and Thought (LIT) lab at Georgia Tech is looking for a Research Tech II. This is a 2-year research assistant position under the supervision of Dr. Anna Ivanova. The position is ideal for individuals considering future graduate study in cognitive science or neuroscience.

Job Summary

Perform a variety of technical activities required for conducting tests and experiments in a school or research laboratory within the Institute. Includes data collection and analyses, experiment preparation and equipment setup and operation. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and research faculty, co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records..

Job Duty 3 -
Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Job Duty 4 -
Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation.

Job Duty 5 -
Participate as directed in preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

Job Duty 6 -
Maintain laboratory equipment.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or another technical field (by the time of hire)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications.

Other Information

  • Assist with all aspects of research, including experimental design, fMRI and behavioral data collection, data analysis, and computational modeling
  • Provide technical support for other lab members, including assistance with the computing cluster setup
  • Administrative duties include financial record keeping for the lab and updating the lab website. In addition to assisting other lab members, the lab manager will have the opportunity to lead independent research projects.
