Shannon & Wilson's Anchorage office is seeking a mid-level geotechnical engineer who is licensed to practice engineering in Alaska, or able to obtain licensing within one year of hire. About Anchorage Come join our Anchorage team of over 20 geotechnical and environmental engineers, scientists, and geotechnical, environmental and administrative support staff. You'll be joining a cohesive and fun team with a diversity of experience and backgrounds, and you'll fill an important role within our office and our firm. Your geotechnical projects will take you to locations throughout Anchorage and surrounding areas, as well as travel to breathtakingly beautiful remote Alaskan locations, so bring your sense of adventure and your desire to contribute to Alaska's infrastructure and communities! Your geotechnical projects will include supporting civil engineers, structural engineers, and A/E design teams investigating geotechnical conditions to support design of new construction projects for a variety of public and private clients. Typical projects in our Anchorage office range from designing foundations for new buildings, bridges, and waterfront structures, to investigating pavements on Alaskan roads, airport runways, designing new roads in undeveloped land, working alongside our environmental staff for soil testing and remediation projects, and much more. We work in every region of the state, so you will be challenged by a wide variety of soil and bedrock, seismic environments, and permafrost conditions, working in both urban and rural settings. New staff at Shannon & Wilson are welcomed into our firm with a well-organized corporate onboarding process and made to feel at home. Our two-story Anchorage office contains a full laboratory for geotechnical materials testing staffed by full-time lab technicians, a large conference room, and a convenient midtown location with plenty of parking. The Anchorage Office Manager/Anchorage Geotechnical Team Manager provides a supportive and fun work environment.
