The UCPath Center is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. The UCPath Center manages the payroll, benefits, and other human resources transactions for more than 200,000 UC employees working across ten UC campuses, five medical centers, three national labs and more. The staff at the UCPath Center work in a variety of areas including business operations, customer service, quality management, technology, training, human resources and communications.

Position Summary
The Senior Benefits Associate will work within the UCPath Center, reporting directly to the Benefits Supervisor. The Senior Benefits Associate uses skills as a seasoned, experienced benefit professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures. The Senior Benefits Associate is also responsible for leading the analysis implementation and administration of new/revised organizational benefit programs and policies. Ultimately, the incumbent of this role serves as a lead on benefit complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of variety of factors. The Senior Benefits Associate works with their supervisor and manager to ensure the efficient use of resources, the accurate reporting of data and the effective and timely delivery of benefit services to internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

* 50% * Works on complex benefit problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. * Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. * Applies benefits group insurance regulations to perform complex analysis regarding retroactive benefits enrollments, payroll premium processing, imputed income, and benefit eligibility. * Documents benefits processes and procedures for staff/faculty, post docs, medical residents, benefit vendor and UCPath internal workstreams. * Updates internal documents, forms, and systemwide location guidelines and processes to ensure all processes are aligned and current. * Provides analysis for complex benefit projects, defect resolution such as benefit event rules, payroll premium calculation rules, benefit audit & compliance processes, resolving benefit issues, and various State and Federal regulations. * Requires in depth analysis of vendor audit reports, payroll interface error logs, and monitoring audit reports during the payroll processing cycles.

* 20% * Coordinates, trains, and advises benefit staff and external partner administrators on interorganization benefit processes with UC Policy understanding as well as Peoplesoft processes. * Provides training to benefit processors for UC Staff and Academic processors on benefit topics such as Affordable Care Act Compliance, benefit and retirement eligibility, Medical Child Support Orders, premium deductions, and Health and Welfare compliance audits. * Supports the compilation of weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports. * Supports supervisor and manager in conducting quality assurance and other mechanism (i.e. dashboards, metrics reports) to identify productivity and seeks improvement as needed.

* 20% * Serves as a department lead on the daily basis. * Provides internal training to new team members. * Works closely with supervisor, managers, leadership, Office of the President, IT and external partners to ensure all parties are aligned before any changes are made to system and processes. * Review processes and find ways to streamline where needed. * Provides assistance and support to team members and new hires to ensure tools/resources and proper access to systems.

* 10% * Engage in cross collaboration and teamwork with work groups across UCPath. * Responsible for updating internal process documents with federal and state regulations and process changes. * Supports all benefit activities and act as subject matter expert and respond timely to escalated issues, questions, trends. * Escalated to leadership of potential or expected processing or compliance related issues.

Experience
Required Qualifications

* Min 5 years relevant benefits, payroll, leave administration, or HRIS experience and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced experience in the PeopleSoft HCM.

Education
Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field and / or equivalent experience / training.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at the UCPath Center in Riverside and remote in California.
