Job Description:

XSB maintains a large database of industrial parts data and the specifications that govern them. This data supports proprietary applications that allow our customers to make better sourcing and supply chain management decisions. We're looking for a skilled data engineer with extensive knowledge of parts, materials, and processes in the Aerospace & Defense supply chain, and well-developed technical skills to support our systems for data aggregation, quality, and analytics.

This role reports to the COO. While this position can be worked remotely, you should be comfortable supporting team members and customers primarily working on Eastern time. You should also be comfortable traveling to customer sites on an as-needed basis. All XSB staff members, including fully remote employees, must work on-site ~ one (1) week/quarter and must be fully vaccinated, including eligible boosters, against the COVID-19 virus.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee processes and procedures for existing data repositories and support reporting activities.

    • Examples: produce recurring reports and analyses; collect, validate, and prepare data refreshes and documentation; extract and deliver data to stakeholders in usable formats.


  • Support specific customer projects by managing content (both structured and unstructured data), collecting product specifications and related data, creating and maintaining knowledge bases, analyzing data and preparing analyses and reports.
  • Interpret data and suggest ways to deliver new insights or improve business processes for XSB's customers.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish data rules, quality measures and best practices to be used across the organization to improve data and software quality.
  • Perform data quality assessments, identify areas for improvement and work to resolve quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Work with stakeholders to resolve data-related technical issues.


Technical Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) with a focus on data analysis, data structures, or data modeling
  • Expert SQL skills (scripting, understanding complex queries and aggregate functions)
  • Experience working with and manipulating large, complex databases
  • Expert MS Office skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Access and Excel (Pivot tables, VLookup, Macros, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, data quality, data processing and automation or development of information standards
  • Experience in Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Statistical Process Control (SPC), sampling procedures for quality measurement such as ANSI/ASQC Q3-1988, or other data-driven methodologies for quality analysis and improvement is a plus
  • Expert level analysis skills in the form of research, gap analysis, data mining, and data profiling
  • Ability to critically analyze parts data to reason about product properties and their substitutions
  • Ability to obtain "CAC Card."
