Position description

The Evaluation Assistant (EA) is experienced in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, as well as in academic writing, and will be responsible for supporting the CSEP Evaluation Team in these areas as needed across their portfolio of projects. The EA also has familiarity with evaluation and education research methods and working in an academic setting. They will work under the supervision of the CSEP Associate Director for Evaluation and Data Management, and the Evaluation Team as needed.

The EA will Assist with the Following Duties:

-- Implementing evaluation and STEM education research plans, contributing to the development of surveys and protocols and collecting data via surveys, interviews, focus groups, or other sources.

-- Attending meetings and observing project activities as needed.

-- Preparing formative and summative reports and presentations that advise faculty PIs and project coordinators on project impacts, strengths, and weaknesses.

-- Preparing journal papers and presentations for disseminating education research or evaluation findings as needed.

-- Mentoring of CSEP Evaluation Interns who work on evaluation or STEM education research projects.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or humanities that emphasizes writing and data analysis

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience working on STEM evaluation or education research projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and work in a collaborative environment
  • Prior experience collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and using Excel and NVivo for analysis
  • Prior experience collecting data for projects that serve groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for an academic environment
