POSITION OVERVIEW
The Network Engineer / Technician leads medium to large WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN/WLAN) and WIRED upgrades for medium to large technical efforts at various locations CONUS and OCONUS. Provides in-depth design analysis including testing and troubleshooting of telecommunications alternatives for the US Government customer in support of strategic modernization efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES


  • Provide interface support to telecommunications end users, DoD IT service provider personnel, and program management offices.
  • Conduct upgrades at multiple medical training installations.
  • Perform and supervise site surveys and provide documentation in conjunction with and user requirements.
  • Direct and leads development and upgrades of WIRED and WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN/WLAN) Upgrades engineering installation packages.
  • Builds net configurations and connections.
  • Troubleshoots network problems.
  • IP address auditing.
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration and directing system installation.
  • Defines, documents, and enforces system standards.
  • Project Coordination Memoranda, and project drawings. Develop on-site installation schedules.
  • Direct and lead documentation of the configuration changes at each site
  • Develop equipment and system test plans.
  • Manage the development and production of policies and procedures and ensure conformance with the client's goals, i.e., company/customer objectives.
  • Manage the development and administration of schedule and performance requirements, including budget responsibilities.
  • Manage and establish priorities for network system's needs, analyzes project costs and feasibility.
  • Keep well-informed of new technologies and industry best practices and trends and then plan and advise for implementation.
  • Oversee process to meet objectives effectively and economically on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and solutions to ensure the information systems needs align with the strategic stakeholder's initiatives and objectives.
  • Manage or supervise a medium to large team or department of multiple disciplines. Medium to High Complexity
  • Meet Schedules
  • Travel may be required (Up to 20%) to both State side and Overseas locations.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, a Mathematics-intensive discipline, or a similar field.
  • 5+years of experience in Network and systems management and control, System and/or network protocols
  • 5 years' experience managing the engineering for ISP & OSP construction projects on military installations.
  • Proficient in using common test equipment (e.g., WIRELESS NETWORKING and wire Ethernet test sets, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters/analyzers)
  • Expert in Microsoft products and Aruba
  • Security + (Network Security desired)
  • Must be available to travel as required.
  • Works well with others.


PREFERRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE


  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through implementation and successful acceptance testing.
  • Broad knowledge of Networking, Project Management practices related to planning, design, construction and operations.
  • A Department of Defense Clearance is not required for this role but would benefit future positions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Work is performed in a multiplex/hospital environment.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds and walk short distances.
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders pursuant to placing/installing wireless appliance on walls and in ceilings.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
