Lexington Police Department
We are currently accepting applications for the part-time position of:

* Crossing Guards shall not direct traffic in the traditional sense but should assist with
pedestrians crossing and vehicles exiting or entering the school property.
* Ensure the safety of children crossing the street on their way to and from school.
* Act as a visible reminder to drivers to slow down and be cautious in school zones.
* Help maintain a safe environment for pedestrians
* Set a positive example of safe pedestrian behavior for children and other members of
the community.

* Must be able to stand for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions
* Must be punctual; the safety of children coming to and from school depends on your
being in your assigned location on time
* Commitment to safety
* Genuine love for helping people

* Monday through Friday (Maximum 7.5 hours per week)
* Hours are based on school academic calendar. When school is not in session, no hours
will be available
* Two 45-minute shifts; one in the morning and another in the afternoon
* Specific shift times dependent on assigned location
* Morning start times range from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
* Afternoon start times range from 2:25 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
* Opportunity for summer work
Hourly Rate: $29.54

* Five sick days at the start of every school year (Carry over up to 25 days)
* Three personal days at the start of every school year (Must use by end of academic year)
