Position Responsibilities

As a Design Operations Manager you will play a critical role in scaling our centralized Design function including Product Design, Research, and Design Systems. As Design Operations Lead, you'll partner with UX and Product Leadership to foster the people, practices, and processes that drive a healthy Design organization. The scope of Design Operations today includes tooling, vendor management, design process, planning, and project management. Your focus will be on centralizing these shared responsibilities and establishing processes and measures that support scalable solutions so that designers can focus on designing and researching.

  • You have a strategic mindset and skills in leadership, coaching, user research, and multiple design disciplines.
  • You are an organized, structured, systems thinker who can translate symptoms into root causes and identify appropriate, scalable solutions
  • You have a deep knowledge of and appreciation for design, user research, and development practice and process.
  • You have an eye for continual improvement, and passion for efficiency and operational excellence at scale
  • You have strong communication skills with experience managing teams in a complex product ecosystem with many sets of stakeholders
  • You have a proven ability to work cross-team with product owners, scrum masters, designers, and developers - and synthesize feedback and input from creative and product stakeholders.
  • You have thorough knowledge of the user-centered design process and iterative development.
What You'll Do:
  • Join the Design Leadership team as a member who advances operational maturity and helps coordinate the execution of our design strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow and process improvement including automation, integration, tracking, and reporting of data that facilitates informed decision-making.
  • Define and operationalize design's strategic programs that optimize and streamline the design organization's output, quality, and readiness for skills of the future.
  • Balance process and rigor but understand how to make an impact in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Create and maintain established workflows to create visibility of work and manage workloads, while enabling continuous improvement during projects.
  • Grow and develop talent on the UX team with effective delegation, coaching, and fostering bottom-up innovation.
  • Empower and mentor designers on the UX team, fostering a collaborative, productive, and positive environment.
  • Leverage data in your decision-making, including qualitative and quantitative design and usability research approaches.

Qualifications


  • At least 5+ years experience as a Design Program Manager, UX Research Manager, Design Operations Manager, or UX Program Manager for an in-house, centralized Design organization.
  • Practical experience in building, maintaining, and measuring enterprise design systems.
  • Proven ability to understand and apply insights to complex products and use cases.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire people to do their best work and rally around a shared goal.
  • Experience managing complex research at scale to solve a wide range of business and customer problems.
  • Proven track record of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously and negotiating workflow, while meeting deadlines.
