Seneca Global Services has an immediate need for a Junior Telecommunications Technician. This role will support our government client and require up to 90% travel. Candidates can be based anywhere but will be expected to travel to work on-site as contract needs require. This position requires a government clearance and regular NCIC and SF-86 background investigations. To be eligible, candidates must be clearable.

The Junior Telecommunications Technician Installs and maintains all aspects of communication systems including wire and cable, facilities and equipment, centralized and distributed telecommunications systems and all peripheral equipment. Provides technical system support and capabilities including, but not limited to, installation, maintenance, modification and repair of telecommunications equipment, products and/or systems. Technical systems may be electro-mechanical or computerized and are typically integrated with or interconnected to larger systems. Incumbents typically perform work on-site, off-site, or at remote locations and can be expected to apply troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to determine appropriate restoration or repair actions.

Responsibilities include but no limited to:



  • Determines routing and placement of cabling, wiring, and fiber optics.
  • Performs physical installation of equipment and components (e.g. wiring, cabling, telephone instruments, microwave/satellite communication modules, necessary interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, multiplexors, equipment racks, etc.).
  • Moves or relocates and reinstalls equipment.
  • Responds to trouble reports, performs trouble shooting activities and repairs/replaces malfunctioning equipment and/or facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with building and electrical codes.
  • Documents and/or logs equipment/system installation and/or modification actions.
  • Assists in planning and implementing departmental telecommunications and/or facility layout changes.



Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be clearable and able to pass a federal background investigation
  • Knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications switching and common control systems.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and software.
  • Skill in the use and operation of test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable working from layouts or plans.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to use standard and specialized hand tools, crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, and power tools as needed.
