Field Technician

The Concord and Sacramento offices are looking for an experienced soils technician to help us with a wide variety of grading and foundation projects. We have numerous large grading projects breaking this summer to complement our other construction projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide field observation and perform field testing at multiple locations across Northern California.
• Operate a nuclear density gauge.
• Use and maintain scientific testing equipment.
• Process test data using computer software.
• Communicate test progress and present test results.
• Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Follow Shannon & Wilsons Quality Assurance policy.
• Follow and promote Shannon and Wilsons Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a field and/or lab technician.
• Proficient in mathematics, including Algebra.
• Field and construction observation experience is preferred
• Current Nuclear Gage Safety and Transport Training*
• Must produce accurate field notes and sketches to document work.
• Valid California's driver's license and insurable driving record
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying 30+ pounds

*Arrangements and payment for training will be made for the successful applicant after their hire date.

The salary range for this job is $25.00 - $50.00 an hour depending on an applicant's education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs. .
