This position will float between the Department of Orthopedic locations with a variable location schedule.

DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant (MA) performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).

These duties also include but are not limited to: Rooming patients, prepping clinic, returning selected patient phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, entering appropriate information into the Epic EMR, And associated patient system screens; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. and other tasks as assigned. Must be able to work at variable locations and have variable work hours. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum of one to two (1 - 2) years of experience as an MA.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with medical terminology.

  • Strong orthopedic surgical practice experience needed.

  • Thorough knowledge of insurances.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year ortho/neurosurgery experience.
  • Knowledge of EMR, EPIC, IDX systems.
  • Front and back office experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs, and up to full time hours.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $47,439 - $59,049 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $22.72 - $28.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
