The Puyenpa family of companies are comprised of multiple SBA Certified Native American Tribal 8(a) and multi-certified organizations focused on delivering Information Technology, Management Consulting, and General Construction solutions to the Federal Government along with the Commercial Sector. We are actively seeking a DevOps / (Software Engineer) based in Sterling, VA. This role is a full time remote opportunity. This position requires an active govrnent related security clearance and will need to be able to obtain a Customs Border Protection Background Investigation.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Puyenpa team supporting Department of Homeland Security Custom Border Protection. The main responsibilities of the role include:



  • Work with a team of physicists and data scientists administering and engineering large databases, web applications, and cloud infrastructure. Troubleshoot problems and maintain front- end/back-end system operation and performance.
  • Liaises with external government entities (client and support organizations). Invents and implements methods and algorithms for threat determination and failure analysis.
  • Writes and reviews code to accomplish mission goals.
  • Gives input on staffing levels and allocation. Reviews changes requests and proposals; strategizes future operations.


The qualified candidate will have the following knowledge and experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with DevOps.
  • Experience deploying websites, deploying certificates, and DNS.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and cloud-based data structures to be able to provide database administration, configuration, and maintenance services to support SQL and other databases,
  • Knowledge of and experience with VMWare and VM Container configurations.
  • Experience with PKI, API, and on premises infrastructures.
  • Advanced scripting ability (bash, Powershell, Dockerfile) and some programming ability (Python/Java preferred).
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure such as message queues, web services, authentication services, and Ajax/JSON APIs.
  • Ability to coordinate with government agencies in the course of maintaining IT infrastructure
  • Server administration (IIS, Apache, or equivalent) a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cloud a great plus!
