Design Technician II-Truss/Panel

Responsible for originating truss design and placement drawings prepared from information submitted on a company order form, in architectural plans, or from information developed by a more senior technician.

* Produces roof truss and panel layouts, performs engineering, and takeoff services using ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects. Analyzes margins and quality standards to ensure a competitive and timely quote.

* Computes load and grade requirements and material stress factors to determine design specifications based on customer's structural design needs; determines whether standard designed components or customer designed components are most appropriate for customer's needs.

* Advises sales and customer service staff on technical aspects of customer inquiries and consults with more experienced component technicians and engineering staff when more in-depth analysis is required.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one (1) year component design experience; or equivalent experience and education. Successful completion of WTCA Truss Technician Training - Level I preferred.
