Department Overview

PG&E's Controller's Organization provides Budgeting, Forecasting, Accounting, Reporting, and Tax services. It is responsible for developing processes, systems, and controls over critical finance functions. All of these services are critical to a company with over $60 billion in assets and over $15 billion in annual revenues.

Corporate Accounting provides accurate and timely delivery of company's consolidated financial statements and supports the filing of Forms 10Q and 10K. The Energy Accounting team, within Corporate Accounting, is responsible for regulatory accounting and cost recovery. The team helps business partners understand the accounting implications, research complex accounting issues, implements accounting standards, and educates others on accounting topics, including preparing and supporting the application of company accounting policies and implementation of transactions from accounting perspective.

Position Summary

The Expert Accounting Analyst will work within Regulatory Accounting supporting our company's vision to enable the group to perform in line with a world-class accounting department. In this position, you will perfom accounting functions that will provide an excellent overview of corporate accounting in both PG&E and the utility industry. You will develop and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, andpartner with our Business Finance and Lines of Business co-workers to ensure we are accurately capturing the activities that occur within PG&E.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. After March 2023, there may be collaborative meetings based in the Oakland General Office that may require attendance montly.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

California Minimum: $90,000.00

California Maximum: $136,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in development of research objectives, approach design and analysis on impacting accounting issues.
  • Provides guidance on appropriate techniques and methodologies for analyzing regulatory decisions.
  • Identifies process improvements to reduce risk during account review, improve effectiveness of communications with business partners, and gain efficiencies during monthly close review procedures.
  • Identifies, researches, and coordinates the resolution of accounting issues.
  • Manages and contributes to the department and company projects initiatives to improve processes and understands / translates financial impacts.
  • Assists analysts and senior analysts in identifying areas for process improvement at the desk level.
  • Actively communicates issues and key activities to management.
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
  • Reviews and interprets policies, reporting requirements, rules and regulations.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to assigned team on appropriate techniques and methodologies for analyzing regulatory decisions.
  • May act as a team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees.
  • May manage cross-functional projects or initiatives.
  • Provides guidance in the process of researching and resolving issues. May also lead the resolution of more complex accounting / disclosure issues.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 6 years of job-related experience in accounting

Desired:

  • Experience in public accounting
  • Job-related experience, 8 years
  • CPA-Certified Public Accountant certification
  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of working time
