We are searching for a highly qualified high school student who is dedicated to learning and practicing the skills needed to obtain competitive integrated employment. Interns with UnitedHealthcare's Community Plan of Texas, support our Member Advocate team and are primarily responsible for printing, mailing, and documenting prewritten communications to members.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Use mail merge to individualize and print documents
  • Create and accurately label PDF documents
  • Create and print mailing labels
  • Update database and upload documents
  • Assemble and mail letters according to timeline
  • Make scripted calls to select members and accurately document contact

Required Qualifications:



  • Proven ability to be flexible, willing to assist others and demonstrate behavior aligned to our cultural values
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency with familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to navigate and learn new computer system applications
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others to complete required work-related functions
  • Proven ability to follow step by step instructions
  • Comfortable completing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality
  • Demonstrates ability to pay careful attention to sensitive documents and maintain HIPPA and privacy compliance with or without accommodations
  • Comfortable working and communicating virtually
  • Ability to attend either McAllen ISD or Fort Bend ISD
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Volunteer, work-based learning/community-based instruction, and/or paid work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word (creating and editing Word documents), Excel (general spreadsheet navigation, data entry and sorting) and Outlook (email and calendar)
  • Desire to perform clerical work
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to solve routine problems with reasonable accommodations
