Lead Specialist, Federal Data Engineer

KPMG is currently seeking a Lead Specialist to join our Federal Advisory practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Support to understand client's current schema infrastructure, data environment, codebase, and job schedules / document the technical knowledge to be used by data engineers and scientists for further improvement
  • Collaborate and lead with data engineers and scientists to develop modular code base ot solve real world problems; lead regular peer code reviews to ensure code quality and compliance following best practices in the industry
  • Research, experiment, and utilize leading open source Big Data technologies; design, implement, and test data processing pipelines, and data mining / data science algorithms on a variety of hosted settings (i.e. AWS, client technology stacks, and KPMG's own clusters)
  • Work with clients and team leads to discover data sources in client cloud environment, create data requests; utilize the ETL process to ingest and enrich structured / unstructured data; design, implement, and test data processing pipelines, and data mining / data science algorithms on a variety of hosted settings
  • Rapidly learn clients current automation tools / scripts and constantly support team to bring new ideas, tools, technologies to improve workflows, reduce or eliminate errors and automate processes

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience with data engineering, design, implement, and test data processing pipelines, and data mining / data science algorithms ; U.S. Federal government consulting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud services and tools required for designing cloud architectures and implementing production infrastructures / applications in one or more of the following cloud environments / technologies: Azure, AWS, GCP using infrastructure as code approach is a plus
  • Experience in developing data and analytics platforms / applications on cloud is a plus and experience with cloud native container technologies such as: Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Puppet is preferred
  • Experience with production environments and DevOps systems and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with large-scale big data technologies such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Impala, Kafka, Storm, full-stack development capability is preferred
  • U.S. citizenship required and the ability to obtain a U.S. Federal government security clearance within a reasonable period of time
