Full Title Code Pay Range: $29.23 - $44.31/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.
Working Days and Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

We have a substantial impact on the quality of instruction offered at UCSB. We are able to comprehensively and effectively address the needs of a faculty which teaches a tremendous range of subject matter, using a wide array of teaching philosophies, methods, styles, and technologies. The key elements required to support this diversity of faculty needs include: instructional consulting and evaluation; technical media production support; and technical media display support. Brief Summary of Job Duties
Senior Producer-Director in the Instructional Development department directs 2-4 camera event location shoots at various sites on campus and around the community. Configures and runs webcast and streaming for events. Edits programs for later broadcast locally and on UCTV in a timely manner. Sets up and operates all aspects of television studio as needed. Supports various Field Cart tapings, which include live recording, webcasting, lecture capture, and video conferencing. Trains students in all aspects of production workflow. Assists Production Manager in coordination and operation of two in-house videoconferencing facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Directing experience within a multiple-camera environment including the setup of cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, etc.
- Experience in one-camera remote shoots including the setup of camera, lights, microphones, etc.
- Fluent with entire Adobe Production Suite software, including: Premier, After Effects, Encore, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder. Experience in editing video programs for broadcast with working knowledge of digital editing software.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with faculty and students in a fast paced academic environment.
- Ability to work independently, and collaboratively within a team.
- Three to five years experience in video production.

Job Functions / Percentage of Time / Duties
- Multi-Camera Event Recording / 30% / Directs both students and professional crew members in multiple-camera event productions. Works in both HD and SD formats, and understands the technical needs and requirements for both. Responsible for all aspects of the shoot, including; lighting, sound recording, camera setup, camera support, VTRs, monitors, etc. Knowledge of video and audio signals and how to configure them in a multi-camera environment. Trains students in the operation of the cameras, tripods, sound boards, and VTR's. Up-to-date knowledge of technology for simultaneous live streaming for webcasting or event overflow.
- Post-Production / 30% / Edits event recordings for broadcast on UCTV and UCSB-TV. Fluent with entire Adobe Production Suite software, including: Premier, After Effects, Encore, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder. Maintains up-to-date understanding of broadcast lengths and ability to edit programs in a timely manner. Responsible for knowledge of video formats and codec's, and an understanding of proper compression technologies for a given workflow. Sets up and runs DVD duplicator for small and large production runs. Responsible for analogue video dubbing with router and VTR's. Edits short form documentary style video for instructional and educational purposes. Responsible for editing with faculty and clients on post-production jobs in a timely and professional manner.
- Field Production / 15% / Produces quality composition by composing and framing compelling shots. Responsible for documentary style field production in various HD formats. Maintains understanding of the principles of 3-point lighting setups. Knowledgeable with professional broadcast digital camcorders and how to adjust settings to create professional looking video. Responsible for technical knowledge of wireless and wired microphone systems and proper judgment in using what's best for the production.
- Distance Learning / 15% / Schedules, coordinates, and operates two in-house, and one mobile video conferencing system. Trains students in the operation of all video conferencing systems. Supports and assists field cart operation for instructional and recharge use.
- Administration / 10% / Responsible for budget proposals, billing, and general administrative work supporting Video Services. Meets with clients and prepares budget estimates and project timelines. Prepares bills for production work. Helps assign students to production work as needed.
