Unit Description

Sodexo has an opening for an Accountant in our Accounts Payable Department at our Financial Shared Services Center located in Cheektowaga, NY which handles the accounting for our North American Operations. Within the center there are many departments and positions so there's opportunities for growth & advancement.

The role will work a hybrid schedule averaging three days in the office and two days from home plus 10 work from anywhere days- this is on top of vacation, holidays and personal days.

The successful candidates will:

    Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve issues/reconciling items.
  • Research and resolve past due invoices for problematic vendors and coordinate processing with department staff.
  • Participate in the financial close process including journal entry preparation/submission and monitoring of accounts payable activity.
  • Support the detection and reduction of duplicate payments.
  • Assist with providing training and guidance on systems and processes to department staff.
  • Maintain and update departmental desk procedures.
  • Participate in financial audits and supplier compliance reviews.
  • Provide coverage for the disbursement process.
  • Create and prepare reports of accounts payable activity for management analysis and upon request from the field.
  • Provide accounting support as well as guidance on company policies and procedures to Sodexo's business operators and internal accounting teams.
  • Provide customer service to Sodexo vendors and units to address invoice payment and processing concerns.
  • Communicate relevant information to support business decisions at various levels of the organization.
  • Partner with department Accounting Analyst on preparation and review of late payables analysis.
  • Support corporate, segment, and department level projects.

Position Summary

Assists in the maintenance of accounting policies and controls, fiscal controls, preparing financial reports and safeguarding the organization's assets. Maintains accounting and financial records and reports, including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports. Performs routine assignments. Has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in own discipline typically acquired through a college or university degree or the equivalent work experience. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from more senior level roles.

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
