Specialist Director, Solution Architect

KPMG is currently seeking a Specialist Director to join our practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical design and architectural leadership to one or more teams and projects, to ensure applications are integrated and adhere to stated architectural and design principles and standards
  • Evaluate business requirements in the early stages of projects to determine what software, integration technologies, system architectures and patterns should be employed to meet business objectives efficiently
  • Provide technical design and architectural leadership, including documenting and diagramming solution architectures
  • Communicate best practices by giving presentations, working with project teams and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies and otherwise defined best practices; design solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, provide more value and capabilities, reduce risks and increase security
  • Drive the selection of services, technologies, development of standards and reference architectures
  • Develop project estimates to design, build, deliver and run business solutions; lead efforts for technology research, evaluations and proof of concepts (POC); participate in RFP responses and client contract development

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of recent experience in technology, application, information architectures and the delivery of applications in distributed processing environments, including relevant architecture experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience architecting solutions for both cloud and on-premises hosting models; ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements and ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives; quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing architecture, technical design and implementations, including Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as Service (SaaS) delivery models in Microsoft Azure; strong understanding of operating system models (Linux, Windows), hardware architectures, distributed computing architectures, storage technology, server virtualization, networking, system maintenance, disaster recovery, database failover models, database design, data integration, identity management, authentication and authorization
  • Good understanding of DevOps and general software development methodologies and practices; understanding of Technology Operations and ITSM; knowledge of Business Intelligence dashboards and visualization tools
  • Ability to travel as necessary
