Cheerleading Coach
The George Mason University's Intercollegiate Athletics Department, an
NCAA Division I institution and member of the Atlantic 10 athletic conference, is seeking qualified applicants for a Cheerleading Coach. Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction and coaching for the sideline Cheerleading program;
- Responsible for all cheerleading appearances and activities;
- Must attend all men's and women's basketball home games at EagleBank Arena;
- Travel with the team to Atlantic 10 Tournament games as required, providing coordination, coaching, support and encouragement;
- Actively support the academic integrity of the University, keeping academics and achievement of a degree as the highest priority for the students;
- Provide appropriate and necessary guidance, advising, and counseling for the squad members;
- Awareness of and abide by the rules of confidentiality (Buckley Amendment);
- Knowledgeable of and steadfastly use current accepted safety practices and procedures for all Cheerleading activities, and maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students;
- Effectively recruit the best students within the admissions, financial and regulatory constraints established by the University;
- Participate in fundraising efforts and special events;
- Act as liaison to:
- Equipment office to order, monitor and control all squad equipment;
- Business office on program operations, logistics, planning and squad travel; and
- Academic Services (study hall and tutoring).
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field; and
- Previous coaching experience in cheer or dance.
