Description

The Financial Risk Analyst advances the Financial Risk Management function at LGFCU. The Financial Risk Analyst primarily performs leading-edge analysis across the entire spectrum of financial risks, including interest rate risk, liquidity risk and credit risk. The Financial Risk Analyst is also responsible for related reporting of the LGFCU Finance Department. In addition, the analyst will provide modeling, analysis and reporting to support Civic FCU's financial risk management and business/operational needs.

Normal Day-to-Day Work

  1. Perform and enhance LGFCU's Asset Liability Management (ALM) modeling with a focus on interest rate risk (IRR) and liquidity risk.
  2. Maintain internal ALM modeling assumptions such as loan prepayment and non-maturity deposits.
  3. Take ownership of maintenance and validation of data sources for financial risk analysis purposes.
  4. Actively monitor the financial risk sensitivity positions, risk exposures and underlying drivers resulting from balance sheet trends, market factors and positioning strategies.
  5. Develop and enhance balance sheet risk exposure reporting and monitoring of trends and metrics.
  6. Perform stress tests and sensitivity analysis based on risk exposures and economic environment.
  7. Monitor market developments (economic factors including interest rates & volatility) and balance sheet/behavioral trends to advance risk management and balance sheet strategies.
  8. Production and ongoing delivery of Board and related sub-committee reporting, as well as any external reporting materials required by credit union regulators, accounting firms and any other authoritative bodies.
  9. Assist in development of loan and deposit pricing analytics and associated recommendations.
  10. Document work processes and models used for financial risk purposes.
  11. Support financial forecasting process.

Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, economics, business, mathematics, statistics, or engineering.
  2. Minimum 1 to 3 years relevant experience in finance.
  3. Strong quantitative, financial and problem-solving skills, attention to detail. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Strong PC proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
  5. Ability to function in a commercial business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  6. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).

Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.

  1. Possession or work towards advanced degrees in finance, economics, business, mathematics, statistics, or engineering
  2. Possession or progress towards Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation.
  3. A minimum of 1-3 years of bank or credit union finance experience.
  4. Ability to work with complex data sets.
  5. Ability to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
  6. Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects and relationships simultaneously.
  7. Ability to educate non-financial professionals about financial risk exposures.
  8. Familiarity with ZM Financial Systems' ALM software (ZMdesk) or other ALM software.
