External Job Description:

The Assistant Digital Merchant is responsible for assisting with creating the online merchandise assortment to ensure a presentation that leverages brand vision and strategies to drive profitable selling for designated departments. Assists the Digital Merchant with historical analysis, competitive intelligence, and assortment planning and general organization of the product. This position will coordinate efforts between all related business areas, vendors, and AGS.

Drive Results/Product and Order Management:

  • Understand department strategy to Support the buyer in developing a line that represents the brand by integrating customer insights and business analysis. Identifies opportunities and reacts to them to maximize sales and profits. 
  • Have working knowledge of reports and available data and systems. Use information to make decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate Merchandising reports and recaps.
  • Knows how what they do affects the future.
  • Manages dollars, production, and shipping.
  • Uses financial reports to make suggestions.
  • Working knowledge of components of rollings.
  • Responsible for order entry and maintenance. Review and maintain on-order status.
  • Provides effective support and assistance to the Omni cross-functional team process.
  • Work with planning and allocation on promotional cadence, flow order, color/size buys, minimum/maximum quantities, etc.
  • Support the buyer in reacting to current business trends; ensures the integration of fashion newness, develops upside strategies, recognizes product evolution and potential voids; prepares contingency plans to drive sales and profit objectives.
  • Architecture of a balanced line plan that integrates fashion, lifestyle, fit, pricing pyramids and tiered strategies.
  • Partner with planning and allocation around sales forecasting/planning, promotional cadence, flow order, color/size buys, minimum/maximum quantities, etc.
  • Develop and manage all elements involved with supplying samples to cross-functional areas (photo shoots, digital, visual, etc.).
  • Partner with vendors, fit team, sourcing, design, sourcing, etc. to ensure timely delivery, drives production issues; lab dips, strikeoffs, trims, packaging, ticketing.
  • Ensure the fits meet maurices requirements and timelines.
  • Uses open to buy as a tool to make suggestions.
  • Review and recommend merchandising changes for site readiness.

Know Target Customer:

  • Draws business conclusions from things observed current events and popular culture, determines relevancy to maurices brand strategy.
  • Continuously asking questions and looking for information sources to understand our customer more thoroughly. Pays attention to details that have an impact on our customers' preferences.
  • Understands the customer, works with the buyer in researching and anticipating what the customer wants next; uses information from shopping online competitors in decision making and planning process.
  • Patterning competitors and fashion leaders and understands how they are projecting their brand. Focuses on overall assortment, fashion offering, pricing/promotional cadence, and presentations.

Support Buyer in milestone meetings of the Pipeline:

  • Considering the variables to manufacturing the product; making decisions to insure the costs, retail price, margin, quality, capacity, or delivery date of a garment to meet the business needs.
  • Determining sampling vendor(s) with Product Development partners.
  • Selecting a single vendor with Product Development partners to bulk manufacture each product from pre-approved list based on the vendor's capabilities to meet the business needs.
  • Communicating the expectations to vendors, holding them accountable for the execution and results of production; providing projections to vendors to minimize capacity and production problems.
  • Developing and managing time/action calendars to ensure on time delivery; understanding work in progress or status of production; minimizing risks/liabilities and maximizing profitable opportunities.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in fashion merchandising, retail management or business related field preferred
  • Industry related internship preferred

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a merchandising related position, preferably for a fashion retailer
