Summary of Role:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated technician to become part of our state of the art 300mm factory in Malta, New York.This position will be responsible for the management and maintenance of Site-wide Fire Alarm and VESDA Systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operation, maintenance, and testing of site-wide Fire Alarm System Network.
  • Maintain and update the Fire Alarm System Matrix.
  • Participate in EHS&S regulatory reviews and program implementations.
  • Accountable for the development and implementation of company policies and procedures surrounding the Fire Alarm System.
  • Provide training for new employees and resident contractors on the Fire Alarm System when applicable.
  • Ensure the site Fire Alarm System at GLOBALFOUNDRIES is in compliances with all state and federal laws, regulations, and NFPA codes.
  • Develop, Maintain and document site fire alarm response and maintenance records, and procedures.
  • VendorManagement for Fire System third party contractors
  • Perform tasks associated with EHS&S compliance as necessary including, but not limited to regulatory review, training (delivery and presentation), and audits.
  • Regional contact for benchmarking contact for two other manufacturing facilities.
  • Support other Life Safety/Security Systems such as Access Control, Intelligent Video, and Site Radio System
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications 

  • Two year technical associates degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semi-conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline/equivalent military training/experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience with installation and maintenance of an addressable Fire Alarm network.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge and work experience with OSHA, NFPA, and NYS regulations surrounding life safety systems and associated NYS codes.
  • The ability to operate computer and system interface programs to ensure appropriate computing and analysis of alarm systems including producing alarm metrics.
  • Willing to work independently and with a highly motivated team on related projects or assignments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities
  • Experience with Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm panels and related software.
  • Experience with VESDA Detection Systems.
  • Experience with Video and Access Control Systems
  • Familiarity with reading and editing AutoCAD drawings.
  • Equipment or process maintenance in semi-conductor manufacturing.
  • Basic electrical, alarm monitoring systems experience.
  • NICET - Level 2 Fire Alarm Technician Certification
