Position Description

The Commercial Risk Specialist is responsible for generating business and commercial revenue by developing new client relationships and maintaining existing account relationships. Responsibilities include developing relationships with business and commercial bankers to initiate referrals, analyzing potential business and commercial client exposures, recommending appropriate coverage solutions and negotiating with clients to sell placement of coverage solutions offered by First Citizens. This position will have accountability for ensuring adherence to regulatory and corporate guidelines. This role will also be accountable for reviewing and ensuring timely collection of clients accounts receivable balances as well as sales forecasting, tracking and reporting.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor degree with 4 years external sales experience
or
High school diploma or GED with 8 years external sales experience

Additional Requirements
Carrier appointment is required for all associates in positions for marketing, production, commercial lines service, personal lines service and group life health service.
Job appropriate licensing is required (e.g. Property & Casualty, Life & Health, Resident Brokers etc.). A successful candidate must already hold the licenses or be licensed within 60 days of hire date.
Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and follow sales management discipline including sales forecasting, tracking and reporting.
Strong relationship skills and customer service focus.
Proven negotiation skills.
Strong sense of urgency.
Strong insurance regulatory compliance knowledge.
Possess strong personal computer skills including experience in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Access.
Possess good interpersonal and communication skills as well as ability to work well with others to complete goals and initiatives.
Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Possess good problem solving/analytical skills and the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills
Commercial Insurance external sales experience
